K and D Family Farm's inaugural C.S.A. program, in layman's terms, our weekly veggie box scheme.
Weekly veggie boxes are fairly self explanatory but what's this CSA thing all about? Good question. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and it's a model of food production connecting farmers and consumers directly. This model gives the farmer economic security and minimizes waste whilst providing the consumer with quality produce and a greater understanding of the food production process and the seasonality around it. Also, for both the farmer and the consumer it can provide security when supply chain issues are impacting other methods of accessing farm produce. For these reasons and many more we have chosen to embrace this model as we expand our market garden production this year and beyond.
We are offering two separate CSA 'seasons' across the '22-'23 growing period,
1. October - December (starting Oct 1 and going through to Dec 17 with 12 deliveries).
2. Jan - Apr (starting Jan 7 and finishing Apr 29 with 17 deliveries)
We have chosen to take a two week break between our two 'seasons' as it's always a crazy time of year with our wholesale accounts and the garden will also be shifting from lush spring growth to the more intense Tassie summer production demands.
The Oct-Dec season is almost upon us and details and pricing can be accessed 'here'.
We will be packing orders from the range of crops seen in our 'about us' page on our Local Line storefront.
We are still finalizing details for the Jan-Apr season and they will be up on our storefront soon.
If you are unsure about the CSA concept and if it's the right fit for you, your family and/or your lifestyle first go and take a look at what's available for the Oct-Dec season and leave your details in the form below, we've got an article that may help you with that.
